      Zittend naakt

      Meurs’ oeuvre kent uitersten. Waar hij in de jaren 1930 grotendeels bekendstond om zijn felle politieke werk – met titels als Aanklacht tegen naziterreur – maakte hij ook de nodige naakten. Zittend naakt uit 1929-30 laat zien waar Meurs’ werk zich destijds qua stijl bevond: tussen het neoclassicisme van Picasso en de scherpte van de Neue Sachlichkeit in.
