About Museum MORE
We live in a world filled with images, opinions, and answers.
We are constantly looking.
But do we truly see?
At MORE, we believe there is never just one reality.
That is why we present art that invites you to look longer.
To ask questions. To discover new perspectives.
We do not tell you what to think.
Instead, we create space. For attention and for doubt.
Because when you look again,
you discover that there is always more to see than you imagined.
MORE.
See differently.
Museum of Modern Realism
Museum MORE was founded in 2015. The name MORE is an abbreviation of MOdern REalisme (Modern Realism). As a private initiative, it is a vibrant and ambitious museum dedicated to showcasing the rich spectrum of top-quality figurative art from the 20th century to the present day.
The museum deliberately explores the boundaries of what can be considered “realism” and challenges traditional ideas in surprising ways. With its international focus, Museum MORE presents its own Dutch collection within a broader and more in-depth perspective on a century of realist art.
This is achieved through permanent collection presentations across three locations (MORE Gorssel, MORE Ruurlo, and MORE Twickel) and annual temporary exhibitions featuring art from both the Netherlands and abroad.
The first Museum MORE location opened in Gorssel in 2015, a beautiful village in the municipality of Lochem, Gelderland. The former Gorssel town hall was extensively renovated and expanded to create seven exhibition spaces, designed by architect Hans van Heeswijk. Less than a year after opening to the public on 2 June 2015, MORE Gorssel welcomed its 100,000th visitor.
The second location opened in Ruurlo in 2017. MORE Ruurlo is located in Ruurlo Castle.
The third location will open in 2026 in Delden. MORE Twickel is located in the picturesque village of Delden.
