Our Museum Locations

Museum MORE has three locations: MORE Gorssel, MORE Ruurlo, and MORE Twickel, opening in September 2026.

MORE Gorssel

The building of MORE Gorssel was designed by renowned museum architect Hans van Heeswijk. He was also responsible for the renovation and redesign of the Hermitage Amsterdam, the Mauritshuis in The Hague, and the new entrance of the Van Gogh Museum.

Van Heeswijk used the former Gorssel town hall as the starting point for his design. The monumental section of the building, dating from 1914, was preserved, while later additions were replaced with new construction. The museum is a two-storey pavilion-like building with carefully positioned views of the surrounding park-like landscape.

In addition to the permanent collection presentation, the museum also hosts temporary exhibitions.

MORE Ruurlo

Since June 2017, the second location of Museum MORE has been open: MORE Ruurlo. At Ruurlo Castle, the life and work of the exceptional painter Carel Willink take centre stage. This monumental location provides a fitting setting for the work of this cool and masterful artist.

Having stood for centuries, Ruurlo Castle carries a rich history. The castle was first mentioned in 1326, while the current building dates back to the 16th century. Architect Hans van Heeswijk succeeded in combining contemporary architecture with five centuries of architectural history.

At MORE Ruurlo, the life and work of master painter Carel Willink are central. The presentation traces the development of an artist in search of his own style, who grew into an unparalleled painter. Two temporary exhibitions are presented each year.

MORE Twickel

MORE Twickel will become the third location of Museum MORE, opening in September 2026. This new museum location in Delden, part of the historic Twickel Estate, is the result of a close collaboration between Museum MORE and the Twickel Foundation.

The masterpieces of much-loved artist Jan Mankes will have a special place at MORE Twickel. In addition, the museum will host temporary exhibitions that reflect the atmosphere of this beautiful location and the surrounding Twickel Estate.
